IPMI INFLUENCER:
Dwi Sutoro
Director of PT Perkebunan Nusantara
Description Thumb
IPMI really gave me a good foundation for the transition from a technical/supply chain background to the business and general management world. It prepared me well for that, things I learned in the program I apply every day as a President Director (in my previous role in a multinational company) and now as a marketing director in a state owned (BUMN) holding company.

When I started my IPMI MBA degree in 2002, I was hoping that my degree would provide me with the credentials and business acumen to someday take on a general management role. I have to say that the MM/MBA program gave a lot more than I expected.
The greatest benefit of the program was much more than a piece of paper, that I received in 2004. It was the confidence, that gave me to pursue and accept the current position including the last 5 years in my total 25 years’ career.

Thanks to the faculty of MBA program at IPMI who have facilitated the good discussion on many study cases (mostly Harvard cases). The course expanded my perspective of the power of business analytics, both professionally and intellectually.
Dwi Sutoro graduated from IPMI in 2004 and now, working as the Director of PT Perkebunan Nusantara.

IPMI-Innovesia Launches Innolab
IPMI continues to encourage students' creativity and innovation through business incubation that will curate student startup ideas to the maximum extent. "IPMI students have been equipped with successful business knowledge since stepping on the Kalibata Campus, South Jakarta. Therefore, IPMI collaborated with Innovesia in developing an innovation center and incubator named Innolab," said Chairman of the IPMI Management College Prof. Aman Wirakartakusumah at the signing memorandum of understanding between IPMI and Innovesia, Friday (2/21/2020), at Puridani, IPMI Campus, South Jakarta. Co-Founder & Partner of Innovesia Danny Kosasih said, it is an innovation-investment partner that was established since the year that has the aim to help people who want to invest in innovation, have a positive impact and make more efforts for the progress of their organizations and environment. "Innolab was established as a 'center of excellence' in developing the capacity and competence of students, communities, SMEs & companies, and government agencies in developing innovation," he said. Danny explained that Innolab can be used as a forum and laboratory for curating business ideas, research, experiments, and exploration which are facilitated by the latest technology or IR4. With Innolab, it is hoped that startups can develop innovations to the fullest that can provide positive change for the surrounding environment. .
Prof. Aman added, besides upholding the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Education, Research, and Community Service, IPMI was also committed to prioritizing the principle of Research by presenting InnoLab which would be a means for the IPMI academic community for research and development. IPMI is also committed to strengthen the network in the industry (local and multinational) and Local Governments (Pemda) in Indonesia and deliver it to the market during the post incubation period. "This is the commitment of the IPMI as well as a College to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," he added.
Currently the Indonesian government is actively supporting technology startups as part of national economic growth strategies and plans. The Indonesian government believes that technology startups can improve employment rates, market valuations, and improve technology in Indonesia. The inauguration of "Making Indonesia 4.0" by the Ministry of Industry is a step to be determined in implementing Industry Revolution 4.0 (IR4) in Indonesia.
latest
The Ministry of Industry has compiled a roadmap compiled as a basis for all interests, especially industry players to improve and reap the benefits of using IR4 in Indonesia. However, based on several studies, the success rate of technology startups is quite low. Most struggle to survive when they enter the incubation stage. Barriers faced by startups include access to the network and market, mentor quality, and investor interest. Based on a survey conducted by Innovesia in 2018 of 42 startups in Indonesia, it was found that most technology incubators did not provide IR4 technology, as well as the lack of provision of IR4 technology in government or laboratory facilities. Most of the IR4 technology is used in companies and universities. Therefore, technology incubators need to provide information, education, experienced mentors, and facilities or equipment that can support startups during the incubation process.

graduated from IPMI in 2019
“Looking for a higher education institution to go to during the senior year in high school was one of the most intense moments for most students, including myself. At that time, I know for sure that I want to continue my study to an institution that would allow me to unlock my potentials and facilitate me to grow both personally and professionally. IPMI offered me a high standard business school curriculum (3 Palmes Eduniversal ranking!) in full English delivery and also international exposure, which I believe would be an excellent place for me to expand my knowledge and enhance my skills.
My four-year undergraduate study was a wondrous journey. At IPMI, the learning process was very dynamic and the study materials (especially the case study method) were highly relevant. Supportive board of directors, great lecturers, good friends, and helpful staffs also completed the experience. Because of that, IPMI was a different kind of "comfort zone" to me. Instead of holding me back from the unknown, IPMI created a safe place for me to be critical, take challenges, ask questions, experiment, make mistakes (and learn from it), and thrives.

No doubt, IPMI has equipped me with the technical and soft skills required in today's business world. Throughout the journey, I've been shaped to enjoy solving problems while powering the decision-making process with creativity and drive it with data. By studying at IPMI, I became someone that embrace changes and value leadership and collaboration. At the same time, IPMI also taught me to be more conscious and responsible for the societal and environmental issues around us. I am very grateful for everything that I experienced and learned at IPMI”.
